FAQs

How can I be eligible to play for Knights

Eastside use the rules and details as provided by Basketball Qld.

Be in the Club Competition

"A player wishing to transfer from one Affiliated Association to another for representative competition must have registered and competed within the Association’s Junior Club Competition and played at least seven (7) games prior to being eligible for a transfer."

i.e. – they can trial without a transfer, but if a transfer is required upon selection, BQ will not sign off on it until the above criteria is fulfilled. This is the main one that needs to be font of mind as signoff happens before the 30 day waiting period, so delaying the above may impact players ability to play in Grading and/or regular season games until all completed.

Do I need a transfer to be able to trial for an Association?"

Basketball Queensland strongly encourages against participants trialling at multiple Associations during trial periods, however you do not need a transfer to be able to trial for an Association.

BQ FAQ Updates

  1. What restrictions are there around player transfers and is there a possibility that my transfer won’t be approved?

The following restrictions apply to players wishing to transfer to a new Association for Representative Basketball:

  • The player transferring must have competed for at least seven (7) games within the Association’s Junior Club Competition prior to applying to transfer.
  • A player cannot transfer to a new association within 30 days of completing a previous transfer.
  • If you are a Queensland State team player, you cannot transfer to a new Association if it would mean that your new Association would exceed two State Team Players.

  1. How many Junior Club games do I need to have played to be eligible for a transfer?

Currently, you are required to play at least seven (7) matches in your new associations Junior Club fixtures in the season prior to applying to transfer to your new Association.

EKB’s position stays the same. You don’t need a transfer form to trial, however you must register into a EKB club for Summer Season (U16’s) immediately upon successful selection/acceptance of a position in a Knights Rep Team.
