Terms and conditions

  • Social Media Policy

    1. I consent to photographs and videos of members of my family, including my child(ren), being published in electronic and/or print media for Eastside Knights Basketball (EKB) and Bay City Wolves (BCW) promotional and player development purposes.

    Player code of Behavior

    1. Play by the rules
    2. Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition.
    3. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviors in any sport.
    4. Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team's performance will benefit, so will you.
    5. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are made by your team or the opposition.
    6. Treat all participants in your sport as you like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
    7. Cooperate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
    8. Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches.
    9. Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
    10. Refrain from engaging in negative or destructive discussion or postings on social media about players, coaches, spectators, officials, administrators or other basketball participants, that may be viewed as abusive, harassing or offensive in nature.

    Parents Code of Behavior

    1. Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
    2. Encourage children to participate, do not force them.
    3. Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
    4. Encourage children always to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence.
    5. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition.
    6. Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances and skilfull plays by all participants.
    7. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
    8. Respect officials' decisions and teach children to do likewise.
    9. Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate.
    10. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
    11. Refrain from engaging in negative or destructive discussion or postings on social media about players, coaches, spectators, officials, administrators or other basketball participants, that may be viewed as abusive, harassing or offensive in nature.

    Spectators Code of Behavior

    1. Adhere to the zero-tolerance policy.
    2. Applaud good performance and efforts from each team.
    3. Congratulate all participants upon their performance regardless of the games outcome.
    4. Respect officials' decisions and teach children to do the same.
    5. Never ridicule or scold a child for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational.
    6. Condemn the use of violence in any form be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players.
    7. Encourage players to follow the rules and the officials decisions.
    8. Do not use foul language or harass players, coaches or officials.

    Zero-tolerance Policy

This policy is to ensure all participants are aware of and uphold the minimum standards of behavior as set by Basketball Queensland (BQ) and Eastside Basketball Limited (EBL).

Bay City Wolves has adopted, in line with EBL and BQ, a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate or abusive behaviors from all parents, players, and spectators.

Inappropriate and abusive behavior include, but are not limited to:
persistent or willful questioning or challenging of the rulings or opinions of a referee or scorer, team official, court controller, referee supervisor, EBL or BQ representative, venue personnel, jeering or booing a player, team or official, verbally and/or physically confronting or abusing any person/s at any time.

A breach of this policy will result in the offending person being asked to leave the venue immediately by the Court Controller or other EBL, BQ or Club personnel.

No warnings are required to be given prior to eviction.

The Venue Coordinator (VC) may take any action they deem necessary. A breach of this policy that occurs during a domestic game will be reported by the VC to EBL. The EBL judiciary panel will review the report and decide whether further action is required.

Bay City Wolves may, at its discretion, regardless of any action by EBL, take its own action for a breach of the policy by any Bay City Wolves participant. This may include, but not limited to, expulsion from the venue, suspension from participation in games (in any or all capacity) or cancellation of player's registration with Bay City Wolves.

I hereby agree to assume all risks and responsibilities surrounding my (or my child's) participation in the program under the instruction of your teams' coaches. I understand that similar to all sporting activities, there is a risk of damage to personal property, injury or death which may result from causes beyond the control of, and without fault or negligence of Eastside Basketball, Bay City Wolves, its officers, agents, or employees, during the period of my (or my child's) participation.

I understand completely the above agreement and agree to be bound thereby.
